Management Team

Marc Phillips - Managing Director

Marc Phillips was responsible for the establishment of APT Strategies in 1994.

Since 1996, Mr Phillips has authored 8 Internet books including Behind Australia's Most Successful Websites, Successful e-commerce, The World's Best Online Advertising Campaigns and The World's Most Profitable Internet Business Models.

Marc has been commissioned by many government departments including the National Office of Information Economy and NSW Office of Information Technology recently completing various guides for Small and Medium sized businesses including: Where to go? How to get there?, Best Practice in Electronic Service Delivery and Trusting the Internet: A guide for Business.

Mr Phillips is a judge of the Yellow Pages Business Grants, author of the Yellow Pages eBusiness Made Easy Guide, frequent international speaker at Internet industry events and regularly appears on CNBC and Bloomberg television.

APT Strategies is a member of the Market Research Society of Australia, a member of Internet Industry Association of Australia and an endorsed supplier of Federal Government, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland Governments.

Marc completed a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, Australia and is an authorised representative (PS 146) in Securities and providing financial advice to clients.

 

Paul Bishop - Technical Director

Paul has overall responsibility for technical direction of APT Strategies clients website hosting, onsite tracking tools, website architecture, search engine optimisation and database integration.

 

Paul presided as the Chief Technical Officer of Ticketmaster7 for 5 years. Paul oversaw the introduction of www.tickemaster7.com which today is one of Australia's largest ecommerce websites selling over 10 million tickets annually to 350,000 events each year.

 

Paul is an expert in online marketing, email marketing and implementing our search engine optimisation recommendations through practical technical solutions. Paul has recently worked with companies such as Telstra, Tyco and Disney and has a deep understanding of true business realities and the effefctive, economical use of technology within business.


Henry Pranoto – Technical Operation Director

Henry has the responsibility for APT Strategies and SearchForecast technical operations on a daily basis, including data collection, data transfers and compilation integrity. Henry holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering and a Masters of Commerce in Finance from the University of New South Wales.


  Vikki Southey - Training Manager

Vikki Southey has over 10 years experience in training and developing managers, assisting businesses achieve better financial results. She has extensive experience working within small to medium enterprises, government and publicly listed companies.

Vikki manages all facets of APT Strategies Internet technology clients with an focus on 'offline' human resources. Vikki specializes in developing training programs to meet the knowledge gaps in organizations, then delivering these programs for our clients. All training programs are tailored to meet the variety of learning styles, ensuring participants are engaged, maximizing retention and subsequent implementation of the new ideas and strategies they have encountered through the learning.

Vikki has a Bachelor of Business from Victoria University of Technology, Australia.

 

 

Lyn Berry - Usability & Human Factors Expert

Lynn Berry has a background in language technology (in particular, speech recognition), linguistics, graphic design, business communications, including spoken and written communication skills. The skills acquired in these areas qualify Lynn to assess technology for user acceptance in terms of the language used (whether the message is understood) and the design (whether the design facilitates the message and ease of use).

Lynn has taught at a number of universities including the University of Sydney and Central Queensland University, as well as working in commercial business on numerous projects.

These projects include:

  • technical training programs such as phonetic segmentation
  • user interface design
  • workshops in linguistics for teachers
  • assisting in building a large stock quote application for Comsec Ltd.
  • natural language processing
  • usability for over-the-phone speech applications and website projects

Adam Lyle

 

Adam Lyle has over 20 years business experience. He spent four years with Bankers Trust working in Sydney and New York in roles including credit analysis, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital. Most recently he occupied sales and marketing and general management positions.  Between 1996 and 1998 he occupied the position of CEO of Ticketek, Australasia's largest ticketing services organisation with annual retail turnover in excess of $350m with over 400 employees.

 

 

Graham Cook

 

Graham Cook is a director and shareholder of Millhouse IAG, a corporate advisory service based in Sydney Australia. Mr. Cook has maintained a distinguished career in various old economy financial and insurance businesses such as American Express, Le Forte Capital and IOOF in Asia Pacific for over 20 years before being named CEO of E*TRADE Australia, the first Australian Stock Exchange listed dotcom company in 1997.

As E*TRADE Australia's first CEO for 18 months, Graham oversaw the start up operations, recruitment of over 40 staff, technical operations, official launch and the stock exchange listing requirements.

 

 

Alice Au

 

Alice Au joined the Hong Kong office of Heidrick & Struggles as Partner in Charge, Greater China September 2000, focusing on conducting senior level search assignments in the Information Technology and Financial Institutions Practices across Asia Pacific.

 

From 1995 to 1999, Alice was the Director of Commerce & Industry at a regional executive search firm in Asia. While there she conducted senior assignments in a multitude of industries, including technology, e-businesses, professional services, private equity, media and entertainment, and retailing, serving clients such as Allied Signal, Walden, The Carlyle Group, Ernst & Young Global Client Consulting, MEASAT, Grammy Entertainment, Duty Free Shoppers etc. 

 

Before her return to Hong Kong, Alice spent 16 years in the U.S. She started her career in 1981 as a semiconductor process engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation in Massachusetts. She subsequently joined McKinsey & Company in New York as a management consultant, advising Fortune 100 clients on strategic, organisation and technology issues.

 

A Hong Kong native, Alice graduated from Yale University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1986.

How long have you been going?

APT Strategies began in 1992 at the University of Melbourne where Marc Phillips undertook log file analysis of university library for a Statistical Method assignment. Using a simple excel spreadsheet, the ascii code was imported and analysed. Following a positive review from the computer science department, APT Strategies commercialised the service.
